30 - January - 2005 - v0.8 (WIP release)

The 'work in progress' release adds some improvements and bugfixes since the 'preview' release v0.7. Please, make sure that you uninstalled any previous installation before install this release.

• Sound seems to work better.
• Added support for the alternative file selector 'gsgetfile.dll' (copy the file in the same directory where you installed PocketCaprice).
• Added all features available in portrait view to landscape views.
• Added different screen zooms to get a better fit in the device screen.
• Added experimental CPC disc file selector with autorun.
• Added VGA support using GETRAWFRAMEBUFFER. Thanks to Patrice LE COQ for his encourage to include this feature.
• Documentation still very uncompleted, sorry.
• Source ported to Visual Studio.NET 2005, also is a bit more clear now.
• Additions in configuration screens.
• PocketCaprice should be usable with square devices, if you try it in one of those devices please, write to me commenting your experience.
• Thanks to all those people that send me emails with comments and greetings. Don't hesitate to write to me if you want to tell me anything.

I released this preview because I think that the emulator works good enough to be functional, the most part of the emulator works excepting some issues, the most important are detailed below:

• Sound emulation is not smooth in some devices and is not synchronized in most of them. For example, I tried PocketCaprice with a IPaq 1945 and the sound worked fine, at full speed, but the sound emulation causes some lost of speed with a IPaq 2790 that is a higher machine (IPaq 1945 works at 266Mhz while the IPaq 2790 works at 624Mhz).
• File selector fails the second time that you don't select a file and fails in some circumstances when it goes up a level in the directory tree. Really the file selector is the most unstable part of the emulator and may present other failures.
• Landscape view still in a temporal state, it should show the same control panel that the portrait view.
• Some options are not present in the configuration screens, for example, printer emulation, and with some devices sometimes does not present the 'OK' button.
• Sometimes, the configuration is corrupted when you unplug memory cards, if this occur, delete the file 'cap32.cfg' and run PocketCaprice again.
• Documentation is not completed.
• There are some minor issues that does not affect directly the emulation functionality, but you can send me any other thing that you find if you think convenient.
